Blue Skies and Red Frogs

Blue Skies and Red Frogs

It was only a couple of days before Teena from the US of A rose up from the ocean like a latter-day Venus and waded onto my boat.
No really, there’s a sunken island just off the north west tip of Bocas town. It sunk in the early 90s after a big storm. At low tide you can walk on it… like Jesus!

We elected to stay in Bocas and the night progressed as one might expect, in a drunken and hilarious fashion.

Introducing Trudy and Adam from AUSTRALIA (you’d never guess).

Somehow I knew we’d end up in Aqua Lounge…

Oh Aqua.

Aqua Lounge is our school disco. They only play the worst music, and they play that exact same music every week.

But it’s freaking hilarious, so we let it off.

The next day Teena and I picked up another two Couchsurfers, Daniel and Paty from Brazil, took them back to Jinja Island and we cooked up a storm!

20141026_213817It was Daniel’s birthday so we may have drinkied too muchy.
20141027_185108The next day I said my goodbyes to Paty and Daniel, and Teena and I headed for THE BEACH.

And who should we bump into but Trudy and Adam from the other day.

Son of a beach!
Teena joins me in the shade, but isn’t happy about it.
Perfect beach day!
Yes, that’s me doing a handstand. No, really.

On the way back to the boat dock we even saw a Strawberry Dart Frog – the tiny amphibious wotsit what gives Red Frog its name.

Look, but don’t lick.

Teena, being the good soul that she is, persuaded me to take Trudy and Adam back to Jinja with us.

I wasn’t so sure…!

But first we travelled to Dolphin Bay together to see what we could see.

And ladies, what did we see?

Motherlovin’ DOLPHINS that’s what. Hell yeah Dolphin Bay!!

Rockin’ out on a speedboat, with an ice cold beer, surrounded by Dolphins. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday afternoon…

Of course when we got back it was time for a dip in Jinja Island’s own Starry Starry Bay.

We actually ended up making two cakes for Daniel’s birthday, the second one after he left!

The next day everyone got their stuff together…

See no evil…

It was time to say sayonara to Adam and Trudy…

Maybe I should have chosen a less obvious shirt to sweat into.

And au revoir to Teena.

“If you’re ever in the neighbourhood…”

But October wasn’t even over, we still had Halloween to look forward to.

Oh yes.
